Ik vermoed dat ik wel kan wennen aan het uitzicht…

I guess most people heard it by now already via Twitter of Facebook, but here goes the official announcement: Yep, I did stop walking to Poland for indefinite time and staying in Berlin for at least a month.

After a 1000 km or so to Dessau I found out that every day I was looking more and more at the distance and less and less about what I would see that day, or who I would meet. If you think more about the destination than the way to it, it has no point to travel – especially not on foot.

A regionalbahn later I find myself in the almost vibrant city of Berlin. By coincidence, or call it a stroke of fate (I don’t care), somebody offered a room for next month. I was not first, but apparently enthusiastic enough to get it!

That’s a singular, but very good start of this week. Which only got better by meeting up with old and new friends in the city. While my feet are getting rest this month, my brain will think about new opportunities and new adventures to be had. In which if you would like to participate you are more than welcome. As a reader or living it first-hand.

To conclude: What are your summer plans this year?

In Seesen loopt Marleen, ook bekend van Couchsurfing, een weekje mee. Gezellig en ik kijk er al een tijdje naar uit want na een paar dagen met je GPS praten heb je het wel gehad. Ook omdat zo’n apparaat bijzonder weinig argumenten heeft. Enfin, Seesen is typisch zo’n dorp waar je weinig te zoeken hebt maar waar je zeker wel een huis wilt kopen. Niet om de ligging of het pitoreskie maar wel omdat het zo’n oort is waar zelf ik bijna genoeg bij elkaar kan schrapen voor een hypotheek. Niet geloven?

Terwijl ik dit tik zit ik op 483 meter hoogte bij een uitzichtstoren over zowel het weserdal als het leinedal, op de grens tussen beide gebieden voordat ik definitief op weg ga naar het Harz. Wat valt er te zeggen? Straks stook ik een klein vuurtje, hier kan het eindelijk en dan een privefeestje met wat Slivovice die ik heb meesleept uit de supermarkt en gezouten pinda’s. Wat heeft een mens meer nodig?

Net van het pad af vind ik een van de zeldzame kleine rechte stukjes net uit het zicht en dus goed om een nachtje te blijven. Het is nog best koud hier, net boven nul maar gelukkig vriest het niet meer.

Yesterday I was live on Radio Corax here in Halle for a short interview about the walking trip and Couchsurfing, which was really a nice thing to do! My host here tipped them ( actually she barged into their newsdesk ) and they liked the story. Good friend Stefan captured the whole party. Enjoy!
